Leatherwood Bespoke Viola Rosin: choose a Supple or Crisp recipe, or a blend of the two, to shape the brightness, clarity, warmth and richness of your sound.

The recipes also vary the strength of the initial attack on the string, and suit different playing contexts, from concerto soloist to chamber music and orchestra. With intensive use, a Bespoke rosin will generally last 2 to 5 years.

The Recipes

• 100% Supple: A warm and softer sound, with consistent traction that feels velvety and rich, while keeping a reliably sharp attack. It draws a more powerful, focused sound from a softer, lighter bow with less bite, and can soften an instrument that is too loud, bright or one-dimensional.
• 75% Supple: The warmth and depth of Supple, with added clarity and bite.
• 50% Supple & Crisp: An even mix of both recipes, with a balanced texture and sound palette.
• 75% Crisp: A blend for the soloist, focused on power, projection and clarity, with a slightly thicker texture that highlights warm resonances.
• 100% Crisp: A decisive attack, firm traction and crisp sautillé, with a forthright sound from a glassier texture. It gives clarity to a resonant but "woolly" instrument, helps bows and techniques that struggle with a clear spiccato or sautillé, and can brighten a small or student instrument; beginning students find it easier to articulate with Crisp.
